Chad Price, CEO of Mako Medical
Chad Price is the CEO of Mako Medical. He has worked on basic science research on molecular mechanisms of cellular interactions with biomaterials and surfaces for 20 years. He graduated from Tufts University before earning his Master’s degree at the Royal College of Art in London and Ph.D. at Harvard Medical School where he taught tissue engineering courses for 10 years. As a senior scientist at Harvard University, he developed novel cell culture techniques, where he discovered that cells respond to physical signals on implants in quite unique ways compared to their response to materials in suspension or when coated directly onto stainless steel wire meshes.
Mako Medical was created by Chad Price in 2010 after he realized how much easier it would be to engineer medical products if they could be designed quickly and with the right materials to elicit specific responses from cells. Mako Medical is a medical device company that uses proprietary robotics technology to manufacture advanced orthopedic implants for the knee called MAKOplasty.
In 2012 Chad was recognized as a Massachusetts Rising Star. In 2006 Chad founded Genuity Capital, a healthcare-focused real estate investment firm. He also has spoken at several TEDx events including TEDxWaltham where he spoke about the “Power of Human Connection” and TEDxHarvard where he spoke about “Leadership through Connection”.
Chad Price is married with three children and lives in Newton, MA.
