Akeem Jamal and Shelton Haynes is the founder of Pickleball N.Y.C.
Shelton Haynes and Akeem Jamal are bringing a new boutique pickleball facility to Roosevelt Island.
On June 12th, they’ll be hosting an open house where they’ll introduce their facility, discuss the sport and answer questions.
It will be their first official event before the full launch of their new business in 2023 at Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation.
The action will be open to the public, and attendees will have a chance to learn more about this exciting new sport and see it played in person by some of its top players.
It will take place from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Roosevelt Island Fieldhouse (Main Gymnasium).
Pickleball is a fun, low-impact game that has become increasingly popular among all ages and skill levels. Pickleball is a fun, low-impact game on a court, similar to tennis.
It’s played with a wiffle ball and paddles by people of any age, gender, and skill level. The game’s object is to hit the ball over the net so that the opposition cannot return it before hitting it back over the net.
The game is easy to learn and can be played by anyone. It requires no special equipment or expensive court rental fees. Pickleball is also an excellent way to stay active in retirement or have fun with friends and family.
Roosevelt Island offers many opportunities for residents and visitors alike: there are numerous parks throughout the island; it has its ferry terminal with direct access via boat service from Manhattan.
There are multiple restaurants within walking distance from your home, including restaurants serving many different types of cuisine, plus cafes where residents can enjoy coffee while reading newspapers or books.
There are also several bars if you prefer something more substantial than coffee. We’re thrilled to see what the future holds for this new business. We wish Shelton Haynes and Akeem Jamal all the best in their new endeavor at Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation.
