Robert Kraft
Robert Kraft, born in Brookline, Massachusetts, is the founder and chairman of The Kraft Group. He has been the chief executive officer of numerous companies, including Reebok International Ltd., The Starter League LLC, Rolex USA, Samsonite Corporation, and Dentsply International. Robert Kraft also served as chief executive officer for the New England Patriots and the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer.
Robert Kraft attended Brookline High school, where he played basketball, baseball, and football. After graduating, he went to Columbia University to study business. Kraft left after three years and spent the next several years with the accounting firm Peat Marwick.
Kraft’s first business venture was the creation of Rand-Whitney Group, a manufacturer of ladies’ hosiery; other companies included; Haggar Clothing, Stone & Webster, and Canton Company of Massachusetts through his company. Kraft & Partners became a member of the New York Stock Exchange. He later merged with Harris Upham & Company and renamed it; The Kraft Group later started an investment banking firm, Kraft & Partners.
Kraft started a business known as The Starter League. Robert founded Reebok International Ltd., a shoe and athletic apparel company where he was elected President. Kraft was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame.
Kraft is involved in philanthropy, including supporting Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Boston Children’s Hospital. He is also a member of the board of directors at Sempervirens Fund and Brookline College, then served on the board of directors of the Franklin T. Johnson Foundation and Kraft Health & Fitness Center.
Kraft served as a trustee at the New England Deaconess Hospital and is on the board of directors of the Kraft Center at The Children’s Hospital. Kraft has also established The Kraft Family Blood Donor Center at the New England Blood Center and serves on the center’s board of directors.
