Robert Kraft has been a Patriots fan since the American Football League days in 1971. His ownership of the team started when he decided to outbid many competitors to buy Gillette Stadium for $25 million. The deal included the stadium’s lease for the Patriots, which led to the purchase of the entire team.
Instead of taking an offer that would move the team to a different city, Robert Kraft offered a NFL-record $175 million for the outright purchase of the Patriots. Soon after the deal was passed, Patriot fans showed their love and support by purchasing over 6,000 season tickets selling out every game for that next season. From there, the Patriot franchise was changed forever.
The New England Patriots became one of the best teams in the NFL for many years after, appearing in more playoff games than ever before as well as winning multiple Super Bowls. Kraft did not stop there. He passed a plan to open a $375 million dollar shopping and entertainment center surrounding the stadium.
