Tom Keane Among America’s Most Powerful People

Software developer Tom Keane is the Founder and CEO of Microsoft Corporation. He is also a Co-Founder of NAVTEQ, General Manager at Microsoft Mobile Devices Division. A New York Times best-selling author, Tom Keane has written three books on digital media: 

 

Digital Renaissance, Digital Rules, and The Social Media Book. Tom’s latest book, Engage! Provides business leaders with the digital skills they need to compete in today’s connected world. The technology expert also co-authored Why Smart People Compete, endorsed by JetBlue Airways CEO David Neeleman and Tony Hsieh (Zappos). Tom Keane writes a monthly column in the Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management.

 

Tom Keane is a featured speaker at many events, including TEDMED, the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, and the World Economic Forum. He also regularly speaks at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business and other business schools nationwide. Tom was named to Forbes Magazine’s “America’s Most Powerful People 2008” list (No. 59) and has been featured in a full-page ad in The New York Times Magazine by Amazon.com CEO Jeff Bezos (No. 21).

Tom founded NAVTEQ in 1995 with Craig McCaw. He served as General Manager at Microsoft Mobile Devices Division from 1999 to 2004 and was named Managing Director for Microsoft Global Interactive Advertising Sales at Microsoft in 2004. Tom Keane´s early job experience included jobs at AT&T and Intuit selling multimedia advertising systems to retailers and customers (including Walmart, Kmart, and Toys R Us).
