Vicky Gregg Brings Insurance Leadership to Acadia Healthcare Board

Vicky Gregg joined Acadia Healthcare as a board member in May 2016, bringing over 30 years of healthcare experience spanning clinical care, hospital administration, and healthcare financing. Her appointment came after a decade-long tenure as CEO of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, where she led one of the state’s largest health plans through significant growth.

Gregg served as CEO of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee from January 2003 through the end of 2012, during which time the company’s membership grew from 2.2 million to 3.1 million people. Revenue expanded from $2.2 billion to $5.5 billion, and the health plan maintained its A+ rating from Standards and Poor’s throughout her tenure.

National Healthcare Leadership

During her time at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Vicky Gregg earned recognition as a national healthcare leader. She served as Chairman of America’s Health Insurance Plans for two years and held board positions with the BlueCross BlueShield Association and the National Institute of Healthcare Management.

Her appointment to prominent national boards reflected her expertise in healthcare policy and operations. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist appointed her to the National Institutes of Health Commission on Systemic Interoperability, while Governor Bill Haslam named her to the University of Tennessee Board of Trustees.

Clinical Background and Expertise

Vicky Gregg began her career as a nurse technician at Erlanger Regional Medical Center, later becoming a staff nurse in Emergency Medicine and a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the End Stage Renal Disease Program. This clinical foundation informed her approach to healthcare administration throughout her career.

“We are very pleased to be adding an individual to Acadia’s Board with the healthcare expertise and accomplishments that Vicky Gregg has achieved across her outstanding career,” said Joey Jacobs, then Chairman and CEO of the behavioral health provider.

Since November 2014, Gregg has served as co-founder and partner of Guidon Partners, an investor and consultant for privately held healthcare companies. She also serves on the boards of Quest Diagnostics and other healthcare organizations.
