A Look Into Amy’s Kitchen’s Operations And Growth
Amy’s Kitchen was founded in 1987 by Andy Berliner and Rachel Berliner, headquartered in San Francisco Bay Area, West Coast, Western USA. It is a certified B corporation and family-owned food company producing and marketing natural and organic convenience foods.
The company is dedicated to using high-quality and safely-sourced organic ingredients to make mouthwatering foods for their clients within minutes. They are dedicated to serving all clients, even those with food allergies or sensitivities.
Therefore, they offer dairy-free, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, tree nut-free, soy-free, corn-free, Kosher D, light in sodium, and Kosher DE food categories.
Their foods are available across the United States and over 28 more countries globally. They offer over 135 organic packaged plus frozen food varieties. Their most common categories are soups, burritos and wraps, grain bowls, pizzas, pot pies, salsa, candy, veggie burgers, pasta, Asian, Mexican, Indian, vegan cheese, and Mediterranean.
Today, Amy’s Kitchen has grown to become the number one natural/organic food brand in the United States. One primary reason is consumers’ increasing demand for organic and natural plant-based diets as healthy eating trends become more popular.
That drove them to conduct a survey to determine why most of their clients gravitate towards their food. The survey included 2,000 people from different age groups and with different family dynamics.
Many participants said they consume plant-based diets because of health, taste preferences, and environmental concerns. Others said they eat the meals because they are curious about the diet.
Around 70% of parents in the survey said they struggle to find good meals for their children and want a plant-based diet shortcut. 45% of parents also said at least one person in their households has dietary restrictions, and 72% of those struggle to find well-prepared food accounting for those restrictions.
Another reason why Amy’s Kitchen has experienced so much growth is its executive team. In January, they expanded their team, adding new leadership roles. Andy Berliner said they did that because of their growing workforce, which is increasingly becoming more complex.
They added Okasana Woloszczuk as the supply chain officer, Steve Kavariotis as the supply chain planning VP, David Griego as senior engineering director, and Goretti Hamlin as HR vice president.
They also plan on expanding their sustainability efforts by joining the Gigaton Power Purchase Agreement. They will buy over 14,000 MWh of renewable power to power their operations.
