Ben Roethlisberger
Ben Roethlisberger is a familiar name to followers of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was the team’s quarterback from 2004 to 2022. He’s led the team to Super Bowl victory twice in his career. His first trip to the Super Bowl was in 2006 against the Seattle Seahawks, despite a knee and thumb injury that nearly took him out of the season. He led his team to victory and became the youngest quarterback to win a Super Bowl championship.
Ben Roethlisberger is originally from Ohio, and grew up playing sports like football, baseball and basketball, where he was team captain for all three sports. During his college football years, he was a starter at Miami University in Ohio and set several school passing records in the course of 37 games. Prior to joining the football team, he hadn’t had any quarterback experience.
After his first game with the university, Ben Roethlisberger was an easy pick for the position and was offered a scholarship. He was honored in 2007 by his alma mater, where he received the honor of seeing his college football jersey and his number one last time before it was retired. He is amongst three players distinguished with this privilege. In 2013, he was inducted into the Miami University Athletics Hall of Fame where his college coach is also a member.
Off the football field, the quarterback gives back to the community that supported him and his football career. In 2008, he began hosting the Ben Roethlisberger Football Camp for young football players. The camp is a huge success, and every participant gets a chance to catch a pass from the star quarterback. In addition to his youth camp, he participates in community outreach with his team to several organizations such as the Ronald McDonald House and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
