Doug Haynes
For executive adviser Douglas Haynes, the human factor is just as important as the technical and functional aspects of business success. To date, throughout his management consultancy career, Haynes has stressed the importance of establishing constructive working relationships with his high level clientele.
Doug Haynes offers advice to businesses as the council’s president and council advisors’ president. In addition to serving as president of the organization, he also advises companies through his position as the council advisor. Previously, Haynes served as head of Point 72 Capital Management and previously, as chief executive officer of Point72 Asset Management. He also oversaw the regions East Coast. At Point72, Haynes worked for 22 years. He was a senior partner at the company, where he specialized in strategic consulting. He began his career working as an engineer before becoming an entrepreneur.
Doug Haynes grew up around computers, having worked on them early in life. After college, he went onto get a mechanical engineering degree before moving into software development jobs. His experience in these two fields prepared him well for his career later on.
His first job out of college was at a small firm where he worked with clients on a regular basis. During this time, he continued to sharpen his skills working side by side with professionals of various backgrounds. Having learned what he needed to learn, Haynes felt confident enough to open his own company, which is how he came into contact with clients.
During his career with McKinsey & Company (22 years), he encountered countless challenges – both professionally and personally. In addition to being a client and colleague, he was also a friend and mentor to many people that were willing to share experiences with him. He learned so much about business from working alongside great colleagues that he can only hope to emulate their behaviors in the future.
Doug Haynes believes that what makes him successful is not his own skills or talents, but rather good people around him who enable him to achieve great things. Haynes’ experience shows he doesn’t work alone; instead, he works with others who help him solve problems efficiently.
