Leadership At Azure- Tom Keane

Tom Keane is a former corporate vice president at Microsoft who played a significant role in developing and growing Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing platform. He joined Microsoft in 2001 and held various leadership positions across the company, including as the general manager of the Global Foundation Services division, which was responsible for building and operating Microsoft’s data centers and cloud infrastructure. 

 

As the corporate vice president of Azure Global from Microsoft, he led the development and growth of Azure from a nascent cloud offering to one of the leading cloud computing platforms in the world. Under Tom Keane´s leadership, Azure expanded its global footprint to more than 60 regions. It grew to support various services and capabilities, including computing, storage, networking, analytics, AI, and IoT.

 

 In July 2020, Keane announced his departure from Microsoft to pursue a new opportunity outside the company. During his tenure at Microsoft, he was widely respected for his leadership and vision in cloud computing and software development. Tom Keane was pivotal in establishing Azure as a critical pillar of Microsoft’s business strategy.
